the easter bunny came

happy Easter and conference weekend:)

Romania actually doesn't celebrate Easter until May, but it just means that I'll be able to celebrate it twice. 

We got transfer calls this week, and I am sad to say that I am leaving Sibiu this next transfer:(  I'm going to be opening up a brand new area for sisters and training a newbie! not gonna lie, I'm kind of stressed about it, but it should be an adventure. Luckily I still have 2 final weeks left in Sibiu, because the new missionaries need to quarantine for 2 weeks in Hungary before arriving in Romania. 

Our girls cosmin and alexandra are THRIVING. we had great lessons with both of them this week and they are both praying about baptism. I'm kind of sad that I won't be here for the baptisms, but it's all good. 

General Conference was SO GOOD. after talking to lots of people this week about conference and our prophet and hearing a bunch of different opinions, I am just so thankful for a living prophet and apostles that speak to us!!

A week for the books.

We had a little movie family night with the 2 youth in our ward and our branch president last Monday night:) and while maria and cosmin, the youth, really weren't into the church movie that we watched(that had really bad Romanian subtitles lol) it was still a fun time and we ordered and ate pizza 

Had an exchange with sora rytting. She has only been here for about 4 weeks and all I can say is I forgot how hard it was to be brand new in the country and not know how to speak in Romanian at all! It was cool to see how far I've come and how far I'll still hopefully improve in the next 9 months. 

Highlight of the week- our district activity. Since we have not been allowed to get together with our districts practically at all since I arrived, President Rucker (who is actually the best) has given us permission to take a day in every transfer for the rest of the year to travel and get together and do something fun all together so we can build some mission unity haha. So this week on friday night the sister here in sibiu headed out to meet the rest of our district in cluj (which is another city a couple hours north of us) we left our apartment at 11:00 on friday night, and got to cluj at 5.00 in the morning on saturday! We had to change trains in the middle of the night, wait at a a train station in the middle of nowhere for a couple of hours, but we made it safely to cluj and the elders had breakfast waiting for us at the church. We did some service, filmed a video, and walked around the city and it was one a overall really good day!

As expected, sora anderson is getting transferred and I am kind of sad about it because we are literally the bestest of friends and had a great time together!!:,( but I'm excited for my new comp sora sorenson.

I finished the Book of Mormon again this week and all I can say is that I KNOW that is is true and the word of God! Every time I read it I receive a feeling that it is true!! So grateful for the Book of Mormon in my life and if you haven't read it, you should! Make reading scriptures a priority in your life! I know you will be blessed!

Where did the week go?!?!! This week went by way fast and I honestly don't even know why! 

We had zone conference this week which was a real highlight and as always, amazing. We recently kinda switched up the way we do zone conferences, but zone conferences are online with the whole mission now. It's really fun because we usually don't get to interact with the missionaries on the Hungary side of the mission very often, but it is nice that we do our zone conferences once a transfer all together as a mission.

I probably sound like a broken record, but this week again we really focused on member work and working with our members because it is so so important! Especially since the ward is running on only a couple active members! 

Maria and Cosmin are the future of the branch here and we have been trying really hard to keep them active and coming to church, especially since they are the only members in their fam. We made pizza and crepes at the church with Maria earlier this week and meet at a park and play basketball with Cosmin at 7:00 in the morning for our sport hour. Considering basketball is really not one of our strong suits, it's a pretty fun time lol.

Had a nice chat with our branch president's wife in which we were able to start to mend the kind of broken member/missionary relationship in this branch and I am so happy about it, because it has honestly been something stressing me out since I arrived here in Sibiu! Member work is so important! 

For a couple reasons we changed Viorica and her son's baptismal date for the end of February, but other than that they are still doing good

For those of you who have been keeping up with Kardashians, we finally figured out the situation with the mission impossible guy from a couple weeks ago. Apparently he knew on of the other missionaries previously, so when he was leaving the country urgently a couple weeks ago and saw us with our name tags walking down the street, he thought he'd stop and ask him to help his old man neighbor out. We went 2 weeks ago, with some bread, but he didn't answer, so we tried again this week and came back with more bread. This time he answered but then proceeded to tell us he didn't have any teeth and couldn't eat the bread we brought him. We came back with some yogurt and hope it tides him over.

Ok sorry this was so long, but this week was just so good. Obviously filled with some lows, but some very good highs. 

God loves us.

He's there for us.

Fairytale Land

hey yo

Wow was it a busy week here in my new area, sibiu. It's only been a week and I already love it here. It's a lot different here than buchurest and I'm still getting used to the fact that it is a single companionship city and sora anderson and I our just kinda out here by ourselves in the middle of nowhere trying to get work done & share the gospel, where as in Bucharest there were a couple other companionships and lots of people always. But other than that, this week has been so so good. 

It has been a week of meeting random people when we leave our apartment, which has been way cool. Met Greta, a cool volunteer from Sweden that is our age, at the bus stop after I told her that i liked her backpack. She did not understand my romanian and I was like, "wow, my Romanian must be worse than I expected," but then we found out that she doesn't speak Romanian haha. Our friend Petro, an old grandpa, started talking to us while we were outside. He is already convinced this church is true even though we haven't had a legit lesson with him yet! 

Church was a little bit of a different experience here... I'm not joking when I say that we only have 4 active members. The branch president and his wife, and 2 kids, Cosmin, who is 13 and his sister Maria, who is 16. Cosmin and maria are awesome and want to hang out with us all the time. Maria likes to make us crepes and cosmin calls us everyday asking if we can play basketball with him at the courts. He has also been getting into american rap music lately and doesn't understand that lots of the words are not good for him to say and don't mean good things in english hahah...

The church building is an old cottage house thing and we just have church in one of the rooms on the second floor. Sora Anderson and I will probably be giving lots of talks in church this transfer considering there are like 3 people to choose from.

This week has been an adventure and every single day I have truly been able to see God working miracles right in front of us! 

God is a God of miracles and he has not ceased to do miracles in these days, in our days, in our lives!! We just need to have the faith and be ready to see them. Look for the hand of God in your everyday life this week. I promise as you look, you will see!:)

Sibiu literally looks like a town out of a fairytale book with cobblestone streets and cute colorful buildings and massive churches. I'm so so lucky to be here in Transylvania and so happy:)
